Betfred Championship Round Up | Round 21

The top sides asserted their authority in the Betfred Championship, with all of the top four winning,

The first of which came on Friday night, with second place Bradford Bulls coming from behind to beat Doncaster.

Heading into the final quarter, the Bulls trailed 12-6. But tries from Waqa Blake and Jayden Okunbor salvaged the two points for Bradford.

Another side who saved themselves from a losing position was Toulouse.

Toulouse headed to the English capital, and it looked like it was going to be an unsuccessful trip across, however, a late comeback changed their fate. Two Liam Tindall tries and four penalties and four penalties from Jack Smith gave London a 18-6 advantage with just 15 minutes to play.

However, Thomas Lacans crossed for a brace before Olly Ashall-Bott scored his second of the game and what turned out to be the match winner.

York Knights winning run continued with an emphatic away win at Hunslet. Mark Applegarth’s side scored 10 tries through nine different scorers. Scott Galeano was the only person to cross twice in the 56-0 success.

Rounding out the top four is Oldham, who played out an entertaining high scoring contest at Boundary Park. The Roughyeds won 44-30, which included a try from both new signings Ryan Brierley and Jack Ormondroyd. Kieran Dixon had an afternoon to remember, as he registered 24 of the points.

David Nofoaluma helped inspire a hammering from Halifax, as the Panthers ripped apart Sheffield Eagles 46-6.

The former NRL star scored twice and played a key role in tries. Halifax had raced into a 30-0 lead at the break to assert their dominance in the clash.

Widnes completed the round by bouncing back with a win. The Vikings scored five tries as they closed the gap on 8th place Barrow in the Betfred Championship table.
